“The Gnomist” or How to Live a Life With Grace and Kindness

The Gnomist

“Watch this short film,” my wife said, just as I was sitting down on the couch to watch anything but a short film. So I did.

The Gnomist is a film by video network Great Big Story in collaboration with CNN Films. It is set deep in the forest of Overland Park, Kansas where despite the wilds of the world around them, little gnomes have made a home. But how did they get there?

It is just under 18 minutes of kindness and compassion—a story of parenting, magic and some jackass that works in the parks department. This is how any one of us can change the world for the better—how caring for ourselves can help care for others.

Thank you to everyone involved in this wonderful story, and to my wife for making me watch it. Thank you, Gnomist.

Welcome, everyone, to Firefly Forest.
