At The Dadcade, we are more than just gamers — we are parents first. That’s why we are extremely proud to announce that we have joined St. Jude Children’s Hospital’s new program, Play Live, to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer by doing what we love to do – play video games. All proceeds we raise from this will go directly to St. Jude, and we couldn’t be happier to help.
As parents, we know the most important people in our lives are the ones we live with. Some people aren’t so fortunate to be able to afford the care that their little ones need. That’s where St. Jude Children’s Hospital comes in. They care for those who can’t afford their children’s high cost of healthcare – without requiring anything in return. It’s a worthy cause and one we couldn’t be happier to support. (One of the co-founders of The Dadcade, Nick Edwards, has also supported St. Jude Children’s Hospital in the past by participating in races to raise money!)
The Play Live charity event allows gamers of all walks of life to raise money via their Play Live page and then play video games to raise awareness. This works in one of two ways. You can raise money and then stream your gameplay via Twitch.tv (which shows up on your St. Jude Play Live page), or you can play privately and just raise money. We have created a team called “The Dadcade” and throughout the next few months, we will be streaming gameplay on our Twitch channel, The Dadcade. You can follow us on Twitter and Facebook to find out when either Nick or myself will be streaming, and we’ll try to get more dads in on the action!
So, this sounds great, right? But where do you come in? Well, there are two ways you can participate and help us. The first involves going to the link attached to the St. Jude Play Live image below and donating whatever you can afford to our team. 100 percent of the proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and you can watch us play games (sometimes poorly) to raise more for the worthy cause.
The second, and much more fun, way to help is by joining our gaming team! By joining our team, you will try to raise money from friends and family and then stream your own gaming or just play privately. You can join our Facebook page and talk about your adventures in gaming, or just sit back and enjoy the fact that you are raising money for a great cause.
If you would like to donate or join our team, click on the image below, which will take you to our Play Live team page. We hope you join forces with us in raising money for a great cause and ensuring more families have access to the healthcare all children deserve. Thank you!
